The moment that Sanrio Hello Kitty-liveried Audi R8 rolled out of the garage at the 2022 Macau Grand Prix, it won all the spotlights, catching the eyes of fans all over the world. Behind the wheel was Adderly Fong, who drove the machine again in 2023 at the FIA GT World Cup in Macau, along with the Kuromi and Cinnamoroll liveries in the following years.

Most racers start in karts at age five, while Adderly started at 16 with zero karting experience. He jumped directly into China Formula Renault.

"We had a huge mountain to climb," he says.

He climbed fast. Europe. German F3. British F3. By 2012, the F1 dream was dying due to lack of funding. But Audi Sport China launched the R8 LMS Cup in the same year and gave him a chance. He took his first win, then the 2013 championship. In 2014, he tested a Sauber F1 car, earned his Super License, and drove in an Abu Dhabi GP practice session.

But motorsport is cruel. When Covid hit, the racing stopped. Adderly had three years of silence, barely surviving with coaching jobs from 2019 to 2021.

Then came the offer from Tarmac Works and Uno Racing Team in 2022. A dreamy, adorable classic cartoon character on a race car. Such a breakthrough had never been seen before. To the outside world, it was a novelty. To Adderly, it was a way back.

"This slowly revived my career," he says. That single race broke the silence. Still with the Uno Racing Team, Adderly secured a drive at the Spa 24 Hours 2023. Later that year, he finished 2nd in the Shanghai 8 Hours, then returned to Macau – again with Hello Kitty – to compete in the higher‑profile FIA GT World Cup.

Adderly signed with Audi Sport China and FAW China in 2024 to represent them in the GT World Challenge Asia. He led the championship fight until an engine failure mid-season. In 2025, he switched to Porsche. However, he struggled to adapt to the new car's layout and handling, resulting in a challenging season with limited success. That experience, nevertheless, gave him the clarity to once again change direction in his career path.

This year, brand new challenges are waiting ahead. Adderly raced in GT World Challenge Asia for a third year with Ferrari Harmony Racing, Super Taikyu Series with Craft Bamboo in a Mercedes, and China GT with Uno Racing Team. One thing is certain: whatever comes next, Adderly will surely keep racing, keep climbing, and keep bringing us surprises. We look forward to watching his journey unfold.
